Gregory has worked in the entertainment industry for more than 35 years as a storyteller across theatre, film, and writing. His career spans acting, directing, producing, and authorship, with work rooted in character driven narratives and a belief in storytelling as a tool for empathy and connection.


His creative work has been presented in theaters, festivals, classrooms, and screening rooms across the United States and internationally. Whether on stage, on screen, or on the page, Gregory’s work reflects a long standing commitment to collaboration, thoughtful craft, and meaningful human stories.


Performance, Writing, and Creative Work

As an actor, Gregory began his career in the late 1980s working in summer stock, regional theatre, national tours, and off off Broadway productions. He spent several years touring in large scale productions, including performing nationally as a Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtle, before taking a thirteen year detour into corporate America. He later returned fully to the arts, bringing a deeper perspective to his performance work.


Recent stage roles have included Father Flynn in Doubt, Cal Porter in Mothers and Sons, Edward Bloom in Big Fish the Musical, Dan in Next to Normal, Alan Turing in A Most Secret War, the Preacher in Violet, and Whizzer in Falsettos. In recent years, Gregory has also returned to on camera work, appearing in short films, television projects, and commercial and UGC campaigns.

Alongside his performance career, Gregory has maintained an active writing practice. His short stories and poetry have appeared in numerous anthologies and online publications, and he has written more than ten produced stage works. He has received musical grants from organizations including BMI, ASCAP, and the Watershed Foundation and is

He has received musical grants from organizations including BMI, ASCAP, and the Watershed Foundation and is a member of both the Society of Children’s Book Writers and Illustrators and The Dramatist Guild.


Gregory has also contributed articles, essays, and reviews to outlets including BroadwayWorld, Huffington Post, Bwayvoice, Baristanet, Examiner, and Out In Jersey. He has worked as a freelance director and scriptwriter for Broadway Live, a media company producing original programming for the New York theatre community, and has been featured in interviews and profiles by outlets such as The Advocate, PBS One on One with Steve Adubato, Sirius Radio, and Next Magazine.


Advocacy and Education

Advocacy and education have been central to Gregory’s work for many years. Through his writing, school visits, public discussions, and community engagement, he has consistently used storytelling to foster dialogue and understanding.


His advocacy has addressed subjects including autism, equality, reparations, LGBTQ rights, empathy, and social justice. Whether speaking to students, mentoring emerging artists, or creating narrative work, Gregory approaches advocacy not as instruction, but as an invitation to listen, reflect, and connect.

Gregory G. Allen is the award winning author of novels, memoir, short fiction, and children’s books that span genres including literary fiction, mystery, LGBTQ narratives, and inclusive children’s literature. Writing under both his own name and the pen name Drake Braxton, his work has been recognized by national and international literary awards and festivals.


His adult fiction and memoir have received honors from organizations including the New England Book Festival, International Book Awards, Rainbow Awards, Readers Favorite, and USA Best Books. His writing often explores identity, resilience, and the complexities of human connection, reflecting the same thematic concerns present in his work for stage and screen.


Gregory’s children’s books have had particular impact in educational settings. Chicken Boy: The Amazing Adventures of a Super Hero with Autism received the MeeGenius People’s Choice Award and a Readers Favorite Gold Award, and the Chicken Boy series has been widely used by families and schools to foster conversations about empathy, inclusion, and difference. His later children’s works continue this focus, blending imagination with meaningful social themes.

Across all formats, Gregory’s writing reflects a belief in storytelling as both a creative and connective act, one that invites readers of all ages to see themselves and others more clearly.

Gregory G. Allen is an award-winning author, screenwriter, filmmaker and actor. He has been in the entertainment industry for 35 years having acted in plays, musicals, TV,  film and national tours. His short films have screened at 100 festivals around the world including twice at the American Pavilion at the Cannes Film Festival (Hiding in Daylight: Writer/Producer & Reparations: Writer/Director) in 2019 & 2020. He has been the recipient of several awards including Best Director and Best Screenplay for his short films and was inducted into the prestigious 125th Anniversary Year (2023) Marquis Who's Who for his dedication to the fields of arts, entertainment, and advocacy. Gregory has received writing grants from BMI, ASCAP, the Watershed Foundation and is a member of The Dramatist Guild, the Society of Children's Book Writers and Illustrators, and a former member of the BMI Musical Theater Workshop.
